Keep on keepin´ on...by NR
We have just finished a long day of walking in the hot sun, but we gave each other ¨high-fives¨ because we weren´t ready to die at the end. My ankle continues to swell but it is improving and Em´s sniffles are going away too. We were quiet today and only laughed when we reached the hostel for the day. I think Em would agree that we are trying to stay focussed for the days ahead and recount what we left behind on the trail. Singing has been at times our only communication, and then there is quiet, deep thought. Then we share what we were thinking and realize, mant times, that we were thinking the same thing. We think of home and funny falls we´ve had in public places, or funny things our parents have done or said. We remind each other how we´ve grown or improved, even since the beginning of the trip. I am learning Spanish, so we practice the street signs as we pass. Today, I was not as slick because I read the ground as we were passing through a town, which said to me ¨zoom¨. Because people are so encouraging to the pilgrims as we pass through their communities, I began to comment on how nice this town might be, that they would even encourage us to zoom forward. Em, being the fluent senora she is, explained that it actually said 200 m (meters). So we are thankful we are here together--growing, laughing and becoming more like our parents everyday! Additionally, we look forward to hot showers with no shoes, to smell nice and to not hear women snore like old men...looking forward to hearing from you all.

Hmmmmm-I am curious about what funny parent happening you were speaking of, girlfriends!
I know your bones (and ankles) are weary but look how far you have come. Hot showers will be waiting for you soon.
Enjoy the last few days of your journey and know you have been prayed for by many!
xx

Praying and thinking of you often,

Nikki & Em,
You two are the most amazing young women. Wow only 12 more days to go! I'm so impressed with what God is doing in each of your lives. It'll be exciting to hear what happens to you both after this trip & where God takes you next. You're in my prayers everyday for a safe journey.
God Bless,
Aunt Deb
Hello Girls, This is Aunt Cindi, I hope you know you are very crazy and young but courageous for your journey. I miss you and pray for you daily. That you are treated nice, have plenty to eat, are healthy and sleep well (amidst the snoring)...Jesus loves you and so do I, Love, Aunt Cindi
There's nothing wrong with becoming your parents! LOL
It does sound like you two are adjusting to life on the road, trekking, and being comfortable with yourselves. Some people never get there so you two are blessed.
We miss you at home. Stay safe and know we are praying for you.
PS: nikki, is there even a word in Spanish for zoom?????
Only 200m to go,
Love,
MoM
OMG you girls are so freakin crazy and AWESOME! i love your posts. im taking a break from my work day to daydream of your travels and incredible experiences. i am so proud of you both and feel like im right there with you. the emotions you're experiencing are so similar to the ones i had on texas 4000. it makes me miss it a lot (which i never thought i'd say). nothing can compare to the feeling of laying your head down at the end of a challenging and incredibly rewarding day - and knowing that you have done your part for the day. that you have done something worthwhile and now you can simply rest. i love you beautiful girls and (while its not so spiritual a comment) - bet you are both looking hot these days!! (although smelly). i totally agree with you on the Dr. Brommers part - he's not actually our friend!
kisses my loves,
Mione
